2016 Wisconsin Award Recipient Announced

Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association, Inc.

Daniel McCaffery, the founder and CEO of McCaffery Interests, was honored with the 2016 Wisconsin Award at the University of Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association (WREAA) 2016 Biennial event held in mid-September.

The Wisconsin Award seeks to continue the legacy of the late Professor James Graaskamp, a nationally recognized scholar and the namesake of the University of Wisconsin James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate. The Award is presented every two years and continues as a legacy to the spirit and tradition of the Wisconsin Real Estate philosophy. In particular, the award recognizes the successes and contributions of an individual or organization to the real estate process. Each recipient has demonstrated an ability to successfully integrate a business, community and social ethic within the real estate process.

First presented more than thirty years ago, the Wisconsin Award has a distinguished roster of recipients, including Disney Development, Habitat for Humanity, the Urban Land Institute and The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, among others.

WREAA serves as a vital link between the Real Estate and Urban Land Economics Program at the University of Wisconsin Madison, current students of the program, alumni and friends of the program and the real estate industry. In addition to providing an effective networking forum, WREAA serves as an important fundraising arm of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Real Estate Program. Governed by a Board of Directors, WREAA has a three-part mission:

  • To support the University of Wisconsin-Madison Real Estate Program in order to preserve and promote its image and standing within the academic and business communities, and enhance career and business opportunities of its graduates.
  • To provide a forum in which members and affiliates can network and interact for business, social, employment, and educational opportunities and activities.
  • To preserve, promote, and support the philosophy of the Wisconsin Tradition of excellence in real estate education.
