The 1,510-square-foot location is expected to open in the third quarter of this year. Two 20-story rental apartment towers opened last month facing Lincoln Avenue, on the west side of a site that formerly held Children’s Memorial Hospital. The Orchard’s smaller size and frontage on Orchard Street, a quieter, more residential-scaled street than Lincoln, were designed “to make a comfortable, elegant fit” with that side of the old hospital site, McCaffery Interests’ Dan McCaffery told Crain’s.

Last residential building getting underway at former Children’s Memorial site

The Orchard, a seven-story building with 32 units, will stand on the east side of the triangular site, facing Orchard Street. The pair of 20-story rental towers, which opened in early April, are on the west side facing Lincoln Avenue, which runs on the diagonal.

The first residents have moved into the Apartments at Lincoln Common, a newly constructed property at 2345 N. Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. Co-developed by Hines and McCaffery Interests, the property is at the Lincoln Avenue, Fullerton Avenue and Halsted Street intersection in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. The project offers 538 studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom rental residences and penthouses across two separate towers designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in partnership with Antunovich Associates . More than 200 tours have been conducted of The Apartments at Lincoln Common since leasing began in February.

Hines and McCaffery Interests have opened The Apartments at Lincoln Common, a 538-unit apartment property on Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and Antunovich Associates designed the two-tower property, which features one-, two- and three-bedroom units as well as penthouses. Amenities include a coworking lounge, game room, clubroom, fitness center, yoga studio, 20th-floor rooftop lounges and concierge services. Monthly rents start at $1,814 for studios.
